Sesame St. Magazine

I recently came across this piece of artwork which was one of many I produced for Sesame St. Magazine (Marvel Comics UK), back in the early 90s. Wonderful characters.

The Tick Golden Age Comic 1 pencils Pacific page 1

The Tick is not just one of my main favourite characters, but getting the chance to work on 11 Tick books was without a doubt fantastic. I had the pleasure of producing the pencils for a chapter in The Tick Golden Age Comic 1, entitled, Pacific. The added joy was to have the inks done by artist, Kevin Atkinson. I was equally asked by my editor to come up with a design for the new character, The Flinging Shield. Therefore, following these pencils, I've included the original style sheet, plus editorial details sent to me. Just to add, Whilst good ol' Captain America's shield will always return to him, The Flinging Shield has to use his sidekick, Retriever VI to run and get it. As it has often ended up in the most dangerous of places, you now know why we're on to sidekick number six!

Apart from a great number of years producing artwork in the cartoon and comic book industry, I've equally enjoyed other areas such as four years in broadcast Tv for Yorkshire Television, also involved in storyboard art for Tv ads and children's productions. One of the characters that never fails to bring a smile to my face is of course, Count Duckula. Therefore, I've posted to the blog various storyboard sheets from one of the Tv shows I had the pleasure of been involved in.

But our heroes won't let this rain on their parade as the judges are still looking for a support vehicle for the procession. Thinking caps on followed by the Carnibot 1400.

Wallace and Gromit Garden Of Delights pencils Day 1 and 2

When someone has opened their garden to the public offering free tea or coffee, Wallace realises that it's the perfect way to get to know your neighbours. Problem is however, his garden is nowhere near as nice, therefore it calls for a new 'Wallace' type of invention, namely a mechanical garden.
As often happens, changes will be suggested, but I couldn't hide a smile when Aardman requested that more foliage be placed over Gromit's crotch on Day 2, panel 1. OMG!, I've just realised that I've drawn poor ol' Gromit naked for over three and a half years.
